Home Backup Power – What Is It?

A home backup power system is a generator (portable or stationary) with an optional soft start unit for your HVAC unit and is situated on the outside of your home.  It can be activated in the event of a power outage or if you just choose to run your home off the grid.  These home backup generators are fueled by either natural gas or propane and can be plugged directly into your home by a power inlet box and an interlock switch on your electrical panel or by a transfer switch (manual or automatic).  This eliminates the need for gasoline and running extension cords with limited power options.  Instead, these backup power systems power the entire house, including your HVAC system, to keep you comfortable, connected, and safe
